Nigerians in UK can send PrePayCredits to Nigerian Phones

MTN Nigeria has begun the sale of its PrePay top-up cards in the UK. This unique initiative by MTN allows Nigerians living in the United Kingdom, to buy airtime and send to their relatives and friends in Nigeria, while MTN post-paid subscribers who are roaming abroad can also settle their bills by loading the Top-Up cards on their phones.

MTN Nigeria Top-Up Card sells for just under US$5 each. According to Olu Akanmu, MTN's General Manager, Consumer Marketing, "This strategic initiative serves a twin purpose of allowing Nigerians in the UK to buy airtime for their loved ones back home and also enables our post-paid subscribers who are roaming abroad to settle their bills by loading prepaid cards with ease via recharge-a-contract".He said the MTN Top-Up card provides a convenient alternative to sending small amounts of money home for telephone bills.

The account of the recipient is immediately credited with the airtime value loaded into the phone. He explained that people could send as many Top-Up PINs as they wish to their relatives in Nigeria.MTN has already embarked on a massive awareness campaign in the UK especially at the recently held Noting Hill carnival where the MTN Top-Up card graced the Nigerian corner as the major sponsor. Akanmu said the MTN Top-Up card has been very well received by Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
